Brockley is a village and
civil parish in
North Somerset,
England. The parish includes the village of
Chelvey.
The village is on the
A370 between
Bristol and
Weston-super-Mare close to the
Bristol Channel, and is about 3 miles south of
Nailsea. It is sectioned by the
Bristol and Exeter Railway, now part of the
First Great Western area. According to the
2001 census it had a population of 271.
It was the location of a 300-person Prisoner of War camp during
World War II, initially housing
Italian prisoners from the
Western Desert Campaign, and later German prisoners post the
Battle of Normandy.
